A recent deposit of smoky quartz found in Zimbabwe is producing crystals with optic to near optic clarity in a variety of formations. Many pieces have multiple terminations and cascading features. These crystals are only produced in a limited quantity as the region they come from is extremely remote and access is difficult. Finding quality smoky quartz crystals completely natural in origin that have never been artificially irradiated is challenging and becoming increasingly uncommon as many of the well known deposits are becoming depleted.
