Why You Won’t See Store-Wide Sales at Beyond Bohemian
We get asked this a lot: “Why don’t you ever run one of those big sales where everything is 20% off?”
It’s a fair question. In retail, it feels like there’s always a discount code or a site-wide promotion. But we’ve made a very intentional decision not to follow that path — because it doesn’t align with our values, the way we source, or the trust we want to build with you.
Here’s why you’ll never see a blanket sale at Beyond Bohemian, and why we believe it’s better for you, the artisans we work with, and the crystals themselves.
We Price Things Fairly the First Time
When everything is always “on sale,” the sale price becomes the real price — and the original number starts to feel inflated. That never sat right with us.
Every crystal in our shop is priced intentionally from the start. No fake markups just to cut them later. We want you to feel confident knowing the value of what you’re buying without needing a discount code to make it seem fair.
We Don’t Want to Undercut Loyal Customers
We’ve all experienced this: you finally buy something you’ve been eyeing, and the next week the store blasts an email saying it’s 30% off. It’s frustrating, and it makes you feel like you missed out.
We never want our community to feel that way. Blanket discounts almost always make someone who already purchased feel penalized. Instead, we show appreciation in ways that feel personal and fair:
Bundles or special pricing on select collections
Clearance for imperfect or overstock items
Early access and perks for returning customers
This way, we can thank the people who support us without undermining their past purchases.
Discount Culture Hurts the People Who Do the Work
This is the part that matters most to us. Our crystals don’t come from machines. They come from miners, cutters, and artisans who deserve to be paid fairly and treated with dignity.
I still remember when I came across a very prominent Etsy shop — hundreds of thousands of sales, a huge following — with a giant banner plastered across their page: “60% off everything.” And it wasn’t for a weekend or a holiday… it was indefinite. At that point, isn’t that just the regular price?
Sure, it looked exciting on the surface, but I couldn’t stop thinking about what it really meant. If half the revenue disappears, where does that loss come from? It usually isn’t the platform or the shop owners who absorb it. In this industry, it’s almost always the people at the very beginning — the miners, cutters, and workers — who end up paying the price.
By avoiding site-wide sales, we protect the margins that allow us to source ethically. It means the people behind each crystal are respected, and their work isn’t cheapened by constant markdowns.
We’d Rather Grow Slowly and Intentionally
Sales are designed to move inventory fast. That works for big box stores, but it’s not who we are. We’d rather take time to curate carefully, even if it means a slower pace.
Every piece in our shop is there for a reason. We’d rather send you a thoughtful selection than rush to clear shelves with a “flash sale.”
Questions We Hear All the Time
So… do you ever discount anything?
Yes, but thoughtfully. We sometimes discount specific collections, create bundles, or mark down overstock and imperfect pieces.
What about Black Friday or holiday sales?
You might see something small, but you’ll never see “everything must go.” If we run a promotion, it’s intentional and doesn’t compromise our values.
How do you reward returning customers?
We love offering early access to new arrivals, curated bundles, or small surprise perks. We’d rather reward loyalty directly than apply a blanket discount to everyone.
Does this mean crystals will always be expensive?
Not at all. Some are rare and will naturally cost more, but many remain very approachable. Fair pricing doesn’t mean high pricing — it means honest pricing.
Trust Over Gimmicks
At the end of the day, we’d rather build trust than hype. We don’t want you to feel pressured to buy just because a timer is ticking down on a sale banner. We want you to shop when you’re ready, knowing the price you see is the real one — not a number waiting to be slashed.
This approach isn’t the retail norm, but that’s exactly why it matters. It protects artisans, keeps pricing transparent, and creates a relationship with you that’s built on respect, not gimmicks.
So no, you won’t see store-wide sales at Beyond Bohemian. And we think that’s a good thing — for everyone involved.
