This is such a unique variety of sunstone we are very excited to have in our inventory. Almost all of the sunstone you will encounter on the market comes out of India, which is a region that is very difficult to verify what goes on at the mines and lapidaries. This Tanzanian variety has a similar iridescence to the other varieties you may have encountered, but tends to be a bit more red in coloration which is likely due to the higher iron hematite content. Production of these stones is very limited from the African co-op and we are unsure if this particular variety of sunstone will be available regularly in the future.
