Read our Sourcing Standards →Citrine (Natural) is a yellow variety of quartz (SiO₂) with a trigonal crystal system and a Mohs hardness around 7. It's color is typically created by trace iron and can range from pale champagne to honey-gold.
It commonly forms in pocket crystals and vein zones, often associated with granitic pegmatites. Primary commercial sources include Brazil, Madagascar, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
A key market reality is that most stones sold as "citrine" are heat-treated amethyst, so the treatment risk is very high in the wider market. Natural citrine is less common, and color, zoning, and supplier transparency matter when buying.
Natural Citrine is often worked with for optimism, motivation, and confident forward momentum. It's a popular choice for goal-setting seasons when you want steady, practical energy rather than intense stimulation.
Many people connect it with the Solar Plexus for confidence and personal power, and the Crown for a clear, focused mindset.
These are traditional associations drawn from historical practice. This stone is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
